About Me
Hi! My name is Jonathan and I have been trading stocks and futures for over 13 years. I guess I got bored writing my trading journal to myself so I thought it would be cool to post daily excerpts to a blog. I use a simple methodology that has so far stood the test of time, 13 years anyway.
If I’m not trading, I’m feeding and watering the children. They keep me busy. Hope this blog is useful to you.
Regards,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathon,
As you’ve noticed, I do indeed consider Bernanke’s rate cuts a mistake. He could have accomplished his goal of re-starting the debt markets with a 50 basis point cut in the discount rate alone. Instead he pulled off a double whammy, cutting both the discount rate and the Fed funds rate. In response, the dollar dropped, commodities rallied (think Crude Oil, Gold in partiuclar) and rates actually increased. Yeah, thats right, post cut, rates actually increased. Since most mortgage rates use the 10 year Treasury rate as a benchmark, mortgage rates have actually climbed for many mortgages post cut. I make my case and present some of the evidence in todays post The Bond Vigilantes Are Back (http://benbittrolff.blogspot.com/2007/09/bond-vigilantes-are-back.html).
Love the blog BTW. Keep up the posts and happy trading.

Jonathan,
I really enjoy your blog. Everything is clear, concise and practical! Thank you!
I’m not a full time day trader but I’d love to acquire enough experience and knowledge for it. I’ve looked at tons of books and they all seem to give the same partial information about technical analysis. Basically, just giving the basics but no usable specifics.
What literature would you recommend? May be something that helped you?

Hi Michael,
Thanks for stopping by. It depends on what you’re looking for in terms of literature. I think William O’Neil’s How to Make Money in Stocks, provides a consistent, repeatable methodology.
There are a ton of good blogs with solid information. If you’re looking to day trade, read through tradermike.net.
One book I consider to be a must read is Way of The Turtle by Curtis Faith. I would read this before anything else.
Hope this helps. Keep in touch.

Hi, was wondering if you knew of a free site that shows at the end of the day a stock’s trades -the individual price and volume of each trade that took place on a particular day. what i am looking for is to see the size of the bigger trades.
thanks so much enjoy your blog.

Hi Jim,
Sounds like you’re looking for time and sales data. I don’t know of any free resources with that data. If I find anything, I’ll let you know.
